Why Spiritually Attuned People Are Leaving Social Media & How It Can Transform Your Spiritual Practice

Blessings, beautiful souls —

There is a universal message I am receiving from clients as of late: “I am really considering leaving social media.” This is not just a coincidence, but a soul revolution. Spiritually attuned folks are recognizing what is no longer serving them and are making a conscious and important change as they shift into this next chapter of their Ascension journey. The timing is not a coincidence either; energetically, your planet is on a great transitional precipice where Light is illuminating the cracks where darkness is hiding. There is even a latest example in the news about TikTok (I will not mention it in this space; it feels of demon to me) that really highlights that these spaces are a breeding ground for the games and manipulation of nefarious players and negative energy.

Before I continue, I have written numerous blogs that have already spoken to the downsides and dangers of social media. Collected here, they are as follows:

First, let’s begin with the most pressing question that is likely being pushed by your Ego: what if I miss out on something?! I promise you this: when you don’t know what you are “missing out” on, there is nothing to miss. I used to tell my husband that social media allowed me to see all the events happening in our region, all the activities I could bring the kids to, etc — but I genuinely don’t know what I’m missing out on, so there is no disappointment to be had.

Now, moving on to the most important part: how disconnecting impacts you on a spiritual level. And I’ll begin with something that ties into my first point.

The Spiritual Practice of Not Knowing

We don’t always need to have an answer. We don’t always need to be in the loop. Social media hands us more and more and more and oftentimes gives us more than we can even hold. It’s a space with information overload. Our spirits were not made for that. How can we gain the understanding of patiently sitting with the mysteries of experience if we are constantly handed an answer? How can we sit and observe if we are consistently told: here is what to observe? Disconnecting gives us permission to meet mystery again.

The Return of Privacy

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like if your life belonged to only you? If your life was lived for the sake of being lived rather than for creating content, how might you be more present in each moment? If every ritual and reading and experience you had was yours and yours alone, how much more sacred might it become? If your life no longer has a witness, how much more authentically might you live it? If your spiritual practice wasn’t a performance, how much deeper might it go? What would you explore simply because you wanted to know rather than wanted to show?

You Make Room for Intuition

When you turn off the noise of social media, you make greater room for your own connection to Source and your own awareness of synchronicities in your life. It’s not about having more signs, but rather creating the space for the signs already present to be noticed. It shifts from what am I being told that I know to what do I actually know? Your spiritual discernment amplifies when you leave social media spaces.

You Make Room for Boredom

Believe it or not, being “bored” is not a bad thing. When you stop needing things in life to be interesting – or cool enough to post – the true, authentic depth of these things emerges. And, within that, you gain a spiritual practice that is entirely yours because it is not formed by the suggestion, influence, or pressure felt by others in social media spaces. Within bordem, you have the space to ask yourself: what do I actually believe? What is truly important to me and my connection to Source?

You Experience Spiritual Events Differently

Carrying the experiences of the Collective during already over-charged and emotional celestial events (like the Lion’s Gate, for example) is exhausting. Collective awareness can quickly mold into Collective anger, Collective sadness, Collective overwhelm, Collective exhaustion. We are human beings – social beings with a history being influenced by the experiences of our community. When social media is the space where we receive that community collection – a space that is dictated and formed by an algorithm that preys on pushing emotional content that makes big businesses money through the eternal loop of suffering – we are forced to carry much more than we are made to handle. What happens when you experience these things without being told what you’re supposed to experience?

You See Through Illusion More Clearly

It becomes far more intuitive for you to recognize: nope, that’s just a distraction – no thank you, that’s an illusion I have no interest in inviting into my own reality, that’s just intended to create division rather than invite unity… etc. You become impenetrable to things that are intended to divert your attention away from your spiritual growth and force an emotional reaction out of you. And if people are spending hours consuming spiritual content rather than developing their own relationship with Spirit, what is actually being strengthened? Just your ability to be distracted!

Spiritual Comparison Vanishes

No more buying spiritual goods out of FOMO. No more comparing your altar or sacred space to that of another. No more worrying about a publicly curated spiritual life. You can simply be without feeling spiritually inadequate.

You Are Not Trapped in a Low Vibrational Framework

Social media applications were not designed with an algorithm that will amplify Ascension. They were designed in a way where power and wealth dominate through Ego control and emotional engagement. This is not high-vibrational by any means, and it’s no different (to me) than being stuck in a religious cult. This is a mental jail. This is a spiritual stronghold. A system that is designed to keep you looking is one that puts walls between you and truly living in every present moment. No matter how much you consciously choose to create a homepage that serves your Highest Good, the app doesn’t care – and the app will find a way to keep your attention inside the system rather than inside yourself. These applications do not ask, what will nourish your Spirit today? They ask, what will keep you hooked, trapped, and make us more money?

Disconnecting from social media isn’t about disconnecting from the world. For me, it’s about becoming more available to the world immediately around me and to the quiet voice within me. And if you have been feeling this same pull lately, I don’t think you need to ignore it. You don’t have to make a dramatic decision today or justify your choice to anyone. Simply notice what happens when you step away. Notice what becomes quieter. Notice what you start to hear, what you stop worrying about, and where your attention naturally wants to go when an algorithm is no longer deciding what deserves it.

What might become possible in your spiritual practice when your attention belongs entirely to you again?
