Day 3 – Jet Lagged

Hey There,

Alright y’all, I’m going to make this quick because as you can see from the blog post title, ya’girl is LAGGING. HARD.

I got barely any sleep last night because I had endless nightmares about my damn cat, I slept in way passed what I normally do, and then I’ve just been feeling ridiculously drained, all day long. As such, I had to cancel on a dinner and my intentions for the day were thrown for a loop, because I decided halfway through my day that I just wanted to get home and get into bed. I have been in bed since 4:30pm, my time, and I don’t plan to leave anytime soon. Netflix, naps, and snacks are the plan. I figure this isn’t a vacation so I’m not wasting any days; I have plenty of time to see and do everything I’d like to do.

But that’s not to say that I didn’t do anything at all today! I visited ye ol’ stomping grounds of Jardin du Luxembourg and took my usual photograph of my usual home (it’s not really my home, it’s a royal palace), watched children push motorized sailboats around in the garden fountains (so cool!), relaxed a little until I realized I wore the wrong colours to hang out in a garden (bees, bees all around me…), and then decided I would wander to the Gustav Klimt exhibition happening in the city (my favourite artist).

While walking there, I wandered upon the Pantheon which, despite having visited Paris four times prior to this move, I had never been to. It used to be a religious building dedicated to St. Genevieve, the patron saint of France. It’s since been turned into a crypt dedicated to important French citizens such as Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Braille, Marie Currie, and the like, as well as a memorial building for French heroes and even my darling Antoine de St-Exupery (the author of my favourite book of all time, The Little Prince). It presently has a graffiti exhibition as well in which the artist commemorates individual important people in the history of France on objects he feels represents them. Very cool. I’m glad I visited, and I didn’t even notice the Eiffel Tower down the way from me until I exited the building.

I was going to continue on to the Klimt exhibition but couldn’t do it. On my walk back to my apartment, I let myself get lost a little and ended up on a beautiful street that was closed to cars where I had my best meal of the move, yet! It was a three cheese panini on a mini baguette which was grilled to delicious perfection and was only THREE EUROS! I got it at a hole-in-the-wall called Kantina and I plan to return.

I didn’t have a metro pass for today so I walked everywhere and I was thinking to myself that even a half-hour walk feels like far less because as you stroll you discover more wonders to look at and more beauty to appreciate. These streets are truly inspiring and they remind you to take your time appreciating all you see and do.

In other somewhat related news, I’m going to have the best legs when I move out of this city.

Sorry for the short post, I just can’t take typing anymore!

Enjoy the photographs! I even added videos, this time! As usual for the photographs: scroll over for a caption, click to enlarge. Comments are always appreciated!

  1. You may at times….

You may at times felt that an emotional roller coaster ride was needed.
You may at times realize that you are allowed to tap into that cycle of emotion.
You may at times exercise that caution and divide your imaginary with realism.
You may at times reach out to something that was not visible but its presence was beside you.
You may at times remember things that were agonizing but strengthen your purpose.
You may at times conquered what you felt in your heart and provided you a moment of pleasure.
You may at times let things evolve because other forces could correct themselves.
You may at times see in the mirror a woman of strength, perseverance and determination.
You may at times bring these life passages to their fullest with every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every week, every month and every year that surrounds you.

You may, you certainly may, our beautiful niece. Live it, do it, embrace it.

    Love always ,

    Zio Ami and Denise
