Why Am I in an Energetic Funk? Planetary Explanations for this Strange Season

When you are on a path of Ascension – which is essentially a path to infinite Abundance – it doesn’t always feel good. In fact, sometimes you can just feel downright uncomfortable, unaligned, lost, or overwhelmed. This is because of the immense amount of energetic healing that is happening to your vibrational body, and this recalibration can bring with it: past (or past life) trauma that has yet to be addressed and healed, a sense of lethargy as our earth bodies often cannot handle these upgrades immediately, purposelessness or loss of direction as we realign (internally), confusion or overwhelm about our life’s next steps, or other forms of uneasiness or distress.

The Full Supermoon on October 17th is in Aries amplifies these themes I am speaking about. Being the first sign in the Zodiac, they are the trigger of new beginnings – and new beginnings requires disposal of the old that no longer serves us. But they do so in a very fiery and forceful manner that our bodies struggle to energetically align with. We may find ourselves combating this discomfort, unable to simply settle within it and fall into the flow of change. I find myself doing it lately, as well; it, unfortunately, amplifies the energetic distress we are feeling. While the Aries energy wants you to propel forward and take action, stepping into the path of Ascension we deserve, the energy body we currently have tells you, slow down, I need time to align with this vibration. Aries doesn’t have time for you to slow down. This creates a true lack of flow between the Self and the direction our planet is moving towards.

The moon’s full light often sheds clarity on hidden emotions, and in Aries, this clarity can feel urgent or overwhelming, heightening the sense of lethargy or confusion. Aries energy might push you to face these uncomfortable emotions head-on, urging you to release old patterns that hinder your growth – when we just aren’t there yet. This can feel distressing, but the fiery nature of Aries provides the motivation to heal and realign with your Highest Purpose, reinforcing the idea that this discomfort is part of the process toward infinite Abundance and deeper Alignment.

All that to say that we still may not like it. I certainly don’t like the energy I have been feeling lately – and I know I’m not alone. We will try and fight it, without even knowing we are doing so, but that’s a part of human nature. It’s challenging to fall into something that doesn’t feel the least bit comforting and doesn’t give you any sort of reason to trust it, if I’m being honest with you. But the good news is that the fight is part of the process.

So long as you have an inner knowing and trust in the Universe, eventually you’ll move through this period like you’ve moved through all the others. This one may just feel particularly more triggering or frustrating than normal. There’s another reason for that: Mars has moved into Cancer, and this creates a direct combat towards the energy of the Full Moon – and results in a sense of complete confusion in your spirit that’s asking, wait, what now? What do I do? Do I move or not move? Do I cry or fight? Do I sit or run?

Cancer being in Mars creates an emotional contrast to the fiery, action-oriented energy of the full moon in Aries. Mars is traditionally a planet of assertiveness, action, and drive, but when it’s in the sign of Cancer, its energy becomes more sensitive, protective, and nurturing – which is likely why you’ll be drawn to fall into that lethargic feeling rather than fight against it. Mars in Cancer can slow down the fiery energy of the Aries full moon, making it much, much harder to take immediate, outward action. Instead, it pushes you down a path of emotional healing and nurturing through the uncomfortable moments, ensuring you’re addressing your feelings before moving forward – a place that we may feel we’ll never reach because there’s a sense of being energetically stagnant in that discomfort, right now. The balance lies in nurturing yourself while harnessing the boldness of Aries to make aligned choices, which can be challenging to do when you’re in a place of complete confusion, energetic weirdness, discomfort, and such.

Essentially, the energy of the full moon is telling you go, go, go go! while the energy of Mars is saying, slow, slow, slow, slow. This manifests as a sense of complete loss of self and what to do next. This is where trust in the Universe comes in. A non-choice or lack of action is still a choice, and it might just be the best one for where you’re at right now – and the best one for where the planets are right now, too. Perhaps falling into this energetic lethargy is a necessary part of the healing.

Basically, the energy right now is weird, and I don’t like it at all. It makes me feel purposeless, fatigued, stuck, and really damn strange. While I don’t find myself capable of doing much of anything right now, one thing I can consciously do is make choices that will not add to my discomfort, fatigue, or emotional state. One of those choices is a more conscious effort to stay off of social media. I let it creep back in and it only amplified this general weirdness I’ve been feeling the last week or so. It is simply better, especially as I navigate this strange energetic space we are in right now. I am also turning off my brain when I need to, and trying not to feel guilty about it. You can do the same. Like I said, inaction is still action. Responding to what your body needs is action.

So, don’t beat yourself up right now. We’re all going through it, and it’s truly not you – it’s the damn planets!
